Default C320 Power Steering

I have a 2001 C320 with 36K miles that has noisy power steering. The noise is not there all the time but it comes and goes. It is not consistent in that it is not only heard when just turning the wheels. Rather it can be heard sometimes just after start without moving the car. Some days it's not heard (detectable) at all. The steering may be a little stiff but it's hard to tell as we have been living with it for quite awhile. There is definitely not a total loss of power assist.

Any hints of things to check would be appreciated.

1. Check your power steering fluid level first, you'll have to remove plastic air inlet first. Then you'll be able to reach the p s cap. Add a little bit if needed, then check for noise.
Warning !!! Do not overfill.

Default Steering Fluid Low

Yeah, that was the problem. I had previously checked, saw there was fluid and thought it was enough. I was also concerned about having too much in there. After filling it to the proper level the noise is now gone.

Thanks for replying.
