My 1996 C280 Elegance Auto has developed a stalling problem so bad that it is virtually undriveable.It began with a "helicopter" or fluttering type noise, which I thought was coming from the Scavenger fuel pump.This was replaced but the problem persisted.
If the car is running at speed there isn`t a problem, but when you try to pull away from a junction it stalls nearly every time.
Any ideas?[:@]

 

Have you checked for obstructions in the air intake stream and the exhaust?

I've seen plastic grocery bags clogging the intake and melted cats plugging the exhaust. If the air filter is very dirty or has gotten wet at some point it will clog up. Also, critters sometimes crawl into the intake or exhaust and make camp.

 

All those things have been checked thanks... the filter is brand new, and aside from removing the entire exhaust I`ve checked it for obstruction, it seems fine. Any other ideas?
