I have a 2006 C280 that is due for its 2nd "B" service (has about 60k miles). I got quotes from $450-$550 just for the service and then another $150 to change the brake fluid and $150 to change the radiator fluid. I also still have the original brakes and rotors on the car which are starting to squeak. The brake sensor hasn't lit up yet, but who knows if that is even working. Even going to Midas, just the front brakes and rotors will cost me almost $500! I have found threads on changing these myself and it looks very easy, but I dont trust myself to do it by myself.. if I take them apart and get stuck, then what?? Also, do I have to change the rotors or can I just change the brake pads?

Is it worth spending this money to have a shop do this work, or can I do most of this on my own?I have 0 experience working on cars, but I am pretty handy around the house.

Are there any mechanics or DIYers that live in Western MA (I live in Longmeadow) or CT that would like some side work? Please send me an email if you know of anyone or are interested. Thanks!
