C180 petrol gauge sticking

I have a C180 1995 and the petrol gauge is sticking intermittently, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't flicker, (there is obviously petrol in) any suggestions as to the problem gratefully received

must be the fuel level sending unit.

it sticks on minimum?

Yes does sometimes, other times it's ok

the contacts are not good.
