I currently have an 83 300SD that seems to have a sticking issue with the steering lock. Specifically when you take your hand off the key it continues to engage the starter. This problem only seems to occur in the morning when the car is first started. All sequential starts there after are fine. What I would like to know is if there is some type of lubricant I can use without damaging the mechanisms inside. Or, is this something that will need replaced.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

 

they use light grease on it.

 

replace it.
