Will a 2.4 w solar
trickle charger cause damage if connected through the eobd socket?

 

if you look at a flow chart your protection is between power source (battery) and sensitive electronics. You could be sending varying voltage straight to sensitive devices without protection. Voltage on solar could reach above 20v. I would stick with either going straight to the battery or the car’s accessorie/cigarette plug
