'Apparent' brake failure
Hi all,
I hope someone can help: I recently crashed a friend's 1996 MB C230 whilst trying to park it. It was parked at a slight slope for about 1hr or so and when I tried to move it forward a bit the brakes would not hold and I failed to get to the parking brake pedal in time (panicked !). I just started the engine, didn't put it into gear and let it roll forward a bit, and when I stepped on the brakes...nothing. I pumped the pedal twice or so before the car met the wall...There's been an orange brake light appearing on the dashboard everytime you step on the brakes for several weeks...could this have anything to do with it? Was it brake failure or perhaps I just stepped on the clutch ?! Has anyone else ever experienced this? Help, I need to comfort my conscience. I am 110% convinced that my foot was on the right pedal.
