alarm system

RE: alarm system
Jim, if your '86 works like my '87, you have to lock and unlock the same entry point (door or trunk)or you will trigger the alarm. For example, if you lock your drivers door, the alarm actuates; if you then remember that you want something in the trunk and unlock the trunk, the alarm sounds. Even if you close the trunk and relock it, the alarm remains on until you unlock the drivers door that you started with. If your system is now 'confused', I'd disconnect the neg battery cable and the alarm will stop. Reconnect the battery and the system has been 'reset'. Give this a try and post how you make out.

RE: alarm system
Sorry that didn't work out. If you can live without the alarm while I try to find the wiring scheme, I know you can disconnect the system at the controller/relay behind the glove box. Remove the glove box light...remove the liner (plastic pop rivets)...pull liner forward and remove...use flashlight to locate a black elec. plug going into the controller, a 3" x 1" black box....remove plug...alarm system is offline.
My thinking is you either have a short somewhere in the alarm contacts, wiring or controller/relay and the steps will get it shut off. Tracing the problem won't be a hell of alot of fun, and I'll send you the schematics if I can find them.

RE: alarm system
Jim, glad that part of it worked out...car may not be burglar proof, but at least it's quiet.
I tried to pull the wiring scheme off the MB 107 Service Manual Library CD, and the damn thing, for whatever reason, won't load/run. MBUSA is usually useless on assisting with this kind of thing so I posted a help request on another forum. If I can get it open, I'll send whatever I've got; if I can't, we're both screwed.
