Aftermarket CD Changer
The Volvo dealer that I bought my '02 E320 4Matic agreed to have a CD changer installed to "clinch" our deal. Now he says there is a wireless unit that can be installed. Will this work with the MB radio controls? It doesn't sound like it will to me. Has anyone tried this?
doubt if very much. wireless can be hit and miss in cars like Mercedes Benz's due to all the electronic stuff. Stick with MB changer. It is probably cheaper then the MB and that is why the dealer is pushing ity.
Some of the wireless devices I tried you set the volume of the device and then adjust with your radio. On my MP3 player which is wireless in that the receiver is built into a cigar lighter plug that you plug the speaker output of the MP3 player into on the other end of the cord that lighter plug is on. You have to turn the volume also to full on the MP3 player and anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 up on the radio to get a distant volume that you can hear over wind noise, etc. But it does work and I get very little interference from other stations. I set my radio at 107.7 on the FM dial. All of these wireless types of devices work on the FM side of the radio only.
If the Cd changer is in the trunk, it has to be connection to a 12V power source and tuned into a specific station on the radio. The farther away from the radio, I would think the worse the signal?
This wireless CD changer would probably have to installed in the glove compartment or under the dash, in order to be close enough to the radio to get a good signal, IMHO
