Exclamation 95 c200 elegance problems

ok... monday morning was taking the wife to work, and the car started spluttering... i instantly looked at the fuel gauge.... my son had left it empty i was aprox 200 yards from a fuel station, so pulled in and filled up. restarted the car... still spluttering... so i left it to idle for a few minutes. but had to get the wife to work. so drove her about a mile to work. car still spluttering. rang my friend who said the fuel may have an air lock, so drove to his garage and let him take a look. not fuel, i had lost the coil for cylinders 2 & 3. so we ordered 1. fitted it today. still spluttering and still no spark from the brand new coil.....
any ideas as it has my friend and i (who are mechanicaly minded) stumped....
could it be the ecu? or something deeper & darker?
thanx all in advance

ok, just had a guy out to diagnose the problem with a machine.
its not only the no. 2 & 3 coil thats not sparking, its also no. 2 & 3 fuel injectors that aint working too....
so it is deeper & darker.... seems its either a knock sensor or, what he was leaning more to the ECU.....
so..... if anyone knows a way of resetting the ECU on a 1995 c200 elegance..... it would be most apretiated if you could share it with me please....
thanx in advance

Jim

Default ECU "self-learning" type

The engine management system ECU is of the "self-learning" type, meaning that as it operates, it adapts to changes in operating conditions and stores the optimum settings found /this is especially true for idle settings/. When the battery is disconnected, these "learned" settings are lost and the ECU reverts to the base factory settings. When the engine is restarted, it may idle and run roughly until the ECU has "re-learned" the best settings. To further this "learning" process, take the car for a road test of at least 15 minutes duration, covering as many engine speeds and loads as possible, and concentrating on the 2000 to 4000 rpm range. On completion, let the engine idle for at least 10 minutes, turning the steering wheel occasionally and switching on high-current-draw equipment such as the heather fan or heated rear window.
Good luck to you.
