'91 300 CE running very rich, stalls...help ?
Hello, just joined. My car has been at a mechanic for 5 weeks, he just can't get it running right. I bought a "300 E Owner's Bible" book,(pub by Bently) that seems to be very good. They suggest the Bosch ECUs can go bad...?
He's replaced the O2 sensor, eng light is not on. There isn't that much to check. It will burn through a tank of gas in 100 miles...eeek !
If we lean it out, idles very high 2000 rpm. or won't restart. So, anyone have similar problem ? '91 CEs had the newer 4 valve per cyl engine.
Can anyone suggest a good source for ECUs ?
All help is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I have never had to do a ECU on one of these myself. Hopefully the vehicle is at a Euro mechanic. I have never heard of that kind of excessive richness but would check the fuel dist and injectors for sure. I would only get it through the dealer, hate to say it. I have had tons of problems with aftermarket "remanufactured" units, especially Programa. Make sure that the dealer looks for reman units, usually the part # followed by an 88 prefix.
