420 SEL A/C Blower: Where is it?
Hello All,
I have a 1987 420 SEL. what little air I can feel coming from the A/C vents is ice cold so the compressor is working. (I can feel very light volume of air coming from the a/c vents while going 60mph-70mph with the windows down), I assume the vacuum created wit the windows down is pulling the air from the a/c vents).
I've learned that this problem is probably caused by the blower motor not working, or the blower motor relay, or the a/c control panel on the dash.
I've read conflicting info on where the blower motor is located.... Can anyone tell me exactly where it is (and any tips on removing it?)
Any and all info would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

RE: 420 SEL A/C Blower: Where is it?
Hi, James,. the blower is behind and below the glove compartment on the passenger side. Notice there is a carpeted knee bolster directly below the glove compartment; it is held by a couple of screws; remove it, and the horizontal plastic panel underneath the dash. Under this (actually, above it) will be another black plastic cover with sort of a waffle pattern of ridges on the surface; the blower is inside this panel; it is held on with Phillips screws and a couple of clips.
Often the blower motor's brushes wear out, and the blower won't run. you may get lucky: the brushes are replacable (I know a source); the motor is over $100. Don't break the plastic blower; it costs about $100 alone. could be the fuse, etc.
E-mail me for more details; I fixed my car: a 1986 model, and it was NOT the blower motor. buick8@yahoo.com I'm in the Ruston area, BTW.
