4-Matic vs tire size
Hello
I'm new to this forum and have a question. Our new (old) 1999 C320 wagon has 2 pretty good michelins on the front and 2 that look a bit more worn. I've been told by someone with a volvo xc70 that their 4-wheel transmission had a very expensive repair ($3500) to replace some viscous (spl?) coupler (or something like that). Someone else mentioned that tire size is VERY importanton these AWD systems; i.e. if one tire is a bit smaller, than the system is working full-time.
So being new to the 4-matic, I want to do the right thing. Should I just buy 4 new tires? I'd appreciate any technical comments or preventive maintence I should perform to keep this car in good shape.
By the way, its a beautiful car to drive. I appreciate well-built things and this car feels solid.
thanks
