300TE fails to start-continued...
Hi,
The replacement MAS arrived and was installed last night. The only difference is that the fuel pump runs a fraction of a second longer now when the key is first turned on. (about 3/4 second compared to 1/2 second with the old MAS). This is not enough to pressure up the system as I drained the lines when I changed the filter. I might jumper the pump just to get some pressure back in the system.
This seems to say that there is no pump signal getting to the relay when the key is turned to crank. All my books say that the pump should be running when the key is cranking, but it is not... I have checked the schematics and it looks like this signal comes from the engine control module, (identified as N1 (?) on one of my schematics) but none of my books say this outright!
My books do not list the part number for this module, nor its location, so I was wondering where it is and what it is identified as. I expect it is behind the cruisemodule in back of the battery compartment, but everything seems to be such a secret with these cars...
Any help here is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Norm
