2002 E320 will not shift gears
#14
either the transmission module is bad or a low voltage on the battery will cause the transmission not to shift,,,i wouldnt have thought this but it happened to me yesterday and i replaced the battery and now mine is shifting like a new one,,,knock on wood,,haha,,,,

A new battery would be a start,,been there done that,,,and is a lot cheeper than letting mb put a transmission module,,,or as mb said earlier,,a plate malfunction one of the three for shure ,,,start with a voltage check on the battery,,if a e320`s battery drops low,,it will cause the transmission module to hold first gear,,,,,i did it today,,it fixed mine,,boy am i glad,,,chow

I just purchased a 2002 E320 with 94,000 miles. While driving it today the car would not shift into gears from 1s/2nd.. I ended up driving the car at 4000 -6000 RPMS to reach higher speeds but pretty much had to stay under 30 miles an hour to drive it because it would not shift into a higher gear at all.
There are no check engine lights, no blinking transmission/over drive lights coming up. When in park or idol the engine runs smoothly and without any jerks or RPM changes.
I just left it at a Mechanic shop but he is not a Mercedes but he is not a Mercedes expert and may not have all the tools to check it our properly.
Please help?

I have a mint condition of E320 2002 4matic estate. 73,629 kilometers on going. It's look like new.
But i was surprised and wondering about this mercedes.
One month ago, I just replaced the conductor plate and oil filter, changed the oil. But now the same problem coming again. I still have a problem with my 2001 E320 Estate. It runs fine for a few miles - all gears work- then loses all drive - as if it were in neutral but the light still says D. No other fAult lights come on. Same happens if the car is left idling and stationary for 25 minutes or so. Then, switch off ignition, wait a couple of minutes, restart and it's fine - changes through all the gears until another 5 miles or so, and no drive again. Star test shows P2502. Help! Is it electronic or a new torque converter and gearbox?
