I have a friend that has a 1995 E320 that is having starting issues. I am somewhat mechanical but this one is over my head. First of all the engine will not turn over at all the ignition tumbler turns over fine but the starter doesn't make a sound and nothing happens. I thought it was the neutral safety switch but that didn't fix the problem. He had the electrical part of the back of the ignition switch replaced but that didn't fix it. I can run a jumper from the starter to the battery and it will start just fine, so it isn't the starter. The starter isn't getting any juice when we turn the key. Does anyone have any suggestions of other things to try or ideas of what could be going on with this car. I was under the assumption that if it wouldn't start that is was either the starter, neutral safety switch or the ignition switch, but I am obviously wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

pull the starter and have it tested sounds like the solenoid. good luck
