We have a 1993 190E that wont start. Quit while someone was driving it so we parked it until we could work on it, started it and it ran fine for 5 minutes and then quit. Hasn't started since. We have done the following:
Changed distributor cap
New rotor button
New coil
New crank sensor
The plugs are not getting any fire/spark, been told it could be the security system, and I have checked to see if it works (by rolling the window down, locking it with key, pulling plunger on inside and opening the door) and there was no alarm to go off. If it does or doesn't have a security system, what are some common problems? Thanks!

hey my friend,
when you replaxced that crank sensor did you adjust the gap on it to the manufactures specs?? if not do that and also when you changed the distributor cap and the coil did you put the wires back in order as they were before you replaced those 2 parts.. ??? if you have not done these stuff you gotta redo some things again and you will have your benz running smooth again...
let me know how it turns out..

well i dont really know how you postioned the crank sensor but i know that in most cars when you replace it you have to adjust the sensor it dont mean just put the screws back and youre placed it the right way.. anyway if youve done that then and the car still dont start i am hiting on your fuel pump then... when you turn your ignition on ( not starting the car) do you hear the noise of the fuel pump priming behind the rear seat??( make that funny noise --->>>: bzzzzz) ?? if you dont hear that then your fuel pump is the problem..

well the way you describe it then, cant be anything else just besides the CPS ( crankshaft position sensor). because if youre not getting fire in the plugs basically there is no spark sent from your DIS to the unit .. well i betta my money on your cps or the coil pack.,, one or another then, it dont mean you installed brand new ones they could still be faulty parts... so good luck..

Hey. I have a similar problem. 93 190e. it has the same problem other than it was a loud backfire then it cut off. It has no spark. The distributor and the rotar look good. All the fuses i have checked are good. I replaced the one fuse in the relay behind the battery and still no luck. Did you ever get yours fixed?? What was the problem and what did you have to replace to fix the problem? I would appreciate any help. thanks
