Default 1993 190e 2.3 auto ignition problems

Hey does anybody know what is going on with the ignition on my car? When I put the key in the ignition to start it will not turn. I got it to move yesterday after wiggleing it around for about 5 minutes. I started the car and shut it back off. As soon as I pulled the key out I hear a ping noise. Lock something is locking up. I cant even turn the key when I insert it now! Please help thanks

You want to order a new ignition switch assy w/ steering lock. If it can't be turned, the unit will have to be drilled/cut out of the steering column. It can be a big pain in the ***.

I havent been online for a bit due to work. Had the ignition tumbler replaced. Yes they did have to cut the parts out. Total repair bill $489 + towing. Oh well it back to starting again. Thanks for all the help folks.
