1990 420 SEL won't start
Hi MB Enthusiast, I need help with my 1990 420sel. I just bought it , cheap, 'cause fuel pumps weren't working . I put in 2 new fuel pumps , fuel filter and spark plugs but it won't start. Somebody told me it could be the fuel distributor , 'cause it receives fuel but it seems it not getting to the injectors. Is their anything else I could try beforeselling some of my organs to pay a MB mechanic to check it out?? Please reply , I need help!!!
check to see if you have a spark at the spark plug also losen one pipe to one injector and put a couple of rags around it have someone crank the motor if rag is wet you get fuel to the injector make sure you cover it good and stop cranking rightaway,
if you have spark at the spark plug and you have fuel at the injector not the fuel disturbutor (because you may have fuel at the dist but not at the injector ) AND IF YOU HAVE BOTH AT THE RIGHT TIME AND THE RIGHT PLACE YOU MUST FIRE IT UP, UNLESS YOU JUMP TIMING CHAIN CHECK COMPRESSION NOW AND NOT MORE THAN 25 PSI DIFFERENT, IF YOU JUMP CHAIN YOU DO NOT HAVE COMPRESSION ON THE TIME AND YOU CAN NOT START IT, ALSO IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH FUEL PRESSURE IT CAN NOT OPEN THE INJECTOR, CHECK ALL THAT GOOD LUCK,
I have had a few vehicles that have had clogged catalitic converters....... If they are clogged, nothing will make it start... Try the compression check........ if it has compression and still doesn't start, cut the exhaust pipe loose and try it then........
Good luck
