My 190E has the ignition switch stuck in "off" position therefore locking the steering. I want to replace the lock cylinder. A service manager suggested that I force turn the key to the number 1 position and go through the "popout" proceedure suggested by Chilton's. has anyone removed and replaced the ignition lock cylinder in this manner? Anyone have another method.

try turning the key back and forth while moving the steering back and forth.
