Hi all
I have a 1987 w126 300se think M103 engine with a cold start problem which is just getting worse and worse.
The engine just turns over and over and over and then spluters into a missing start, then runs lke a dream once started. Following that the stating improves and when hot it starts as it should do.
Is there some sort of cold start sensor? I know there is a sensor on the top of the engine block at the rear which was replaced about 1000miles ago due to the car cutting out at juctions or stalling when hot which sorted that probelm, then this one has started?

Hi,
I have a 1996 S320 with the exact symptoms you describe. I had the cold sensor replaced ($132) and it responded somewhat but it still does not come to life with confidence when I turn the key. I am even having trouble finding competent mechanics diagnose in my area, but here are a few suggestions, which I am getting ready to try myself:
Check thatfuel system is not loosing its prime and the fuel lines are draining back into tank. This could be caused by (1) a faulty fuel pump, (2) the check valve on the pump or (3) a leaky or faulty pressure regulator.
I will attempt some of these fixes but let me know if youfind any answers.
Good luck!

Hi Jose
Thanks for your reply
I have listed my problem on other MB forum sites and am being told that the problem could be a faulty or sticking 'cold start value' which am told is sited under the air filter on the top of the carb. Not sure if this will help you ?
regards
David

Hola, Jose!
While browsing through the forum, I came across your name and was left wondering if you could be by any chance the same Jose A. Samayoa with whom I attended Lowther Junior High School in Emporia, KS, back in 1964. Please, let me know. Thanks.
Regards,
Jose Amaro.
