Smile 1984 Mercedes 300SD Power Antenna Problem

I am new to the forum but I have some information that may be helpful to those with my year 300SD who find they have a need for a pinout for the power antenna connection when troubleshooting. I could not find this information online so now that I have figured it out, I am sharing it. On a working system, when the antenna is in the lowered position, check to see if you have the following conditions met for a starting point:
1. +12 V at the BLUE (Power Antenna) wire connected to radio.
2. The dashboard power antenna switch is in the UP position.
3. +12 V available at what I call pin 1 of the power antenna motor connection located on the driver's side of the trunk.
4. GROUND (Battery -) at what I call pin 3 at the power antenna motor connection.

In order to raise the power antenna, Pin 1 must be connected to +12 Volts (Battery +), Pin 2 must be connected to +12 Volts, Pin 3 must be connected to Ground (Battery -) . Pin 4 must be zero Volts, Pin 5 must be zero Volts. In addition BLUE (Power Antenna) wire connected to the radio must be +12Volts, and Power Antenna switch on dashboard is in the UP position and the ignition key switch is in the RUN position.

To lower the power antenna, Pin 1 must be +12 Volts, Pin 2 must be zero Volts, Pin 3 must be zero Volts, Pin 4 must be +12 Volts, and Pin 5 must be +12 Volts. In addition, the BLUE (Power Antenna) wire must be zero Volts.

The reason my power antenna was not going up was my radio was not putting out the +12V signal on the blue wire due to an internal failure of the radio itself. I have temporarily fixed this problem by connecting the BLUE wire to a YELLOW (Battery +) +12V connection that powers my radio. I have a Word document and truth table showing both the way I have numbered the pins on the power antenna motor connection and what the states of these pins should be on a working antenna. Email me if you would like this information. I will be happy to send it to you ...

Default power antenna

I bought a power antenna for a Mercedes 190 E 2.3 engine. This part had a very easy installation and i have'nt had any problems yet. I bought it from Javier, at qeautoparts.com. I recommend all you Mercedes fans get your parts there. They have a huge selection of Mercedes parts in stock. My next purchase is a pair of front axles, brake discs and brake pads. I can't wait! Good luck!
