1980 vs 1984 300D
I have a father who let his 1980 300D sit under his pole barn for the last 18 years. He bought the car new, and ten years later parked it because of a water pump leak. I asked him last month if he would let me have it so I could restore it and he felt compled to say yes.
I have jumped into this project and have been reading what I can to fix one problem after another.
The car has just under 150K on it and the engine turns over freely, but #1 isn't getting any fuel.
Okay here is my first question, will a 1984 300D fuel injector pump work on a 1980 619 engine?
Rebuild or replace?
I am an art teacher, potter and sculptor by trade and working with tools and my hands are no problem. I enjoy taking things apart to see how they work. I am committed to this as I have the Factory service manual and cd-rom set as well as the Haynes manual for this car. I know that books don't always take the place of experience, so that is why I am here.
Any help would be appreciated.
