good morning everyone, my w115 220d has recently developed a creak/groan which sounds to be coming from the front drivers side wheel. i can make the noise happen on demand by applying pressure to the front fender. at first i only got the noise when i hit small bumps and sounded like a squeaky mattress. now i get the same noise when i turn the steering wheel also. the steering wheel noise started this morning and the temp is currently -13deg f I'm not sure if the cold weather could be making it sound worse. this car is twice my age and i have never diagnosed front end noise on a car this old. if someone can point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it as it is just too cold to be out troubleshooting without any leads.
thanks in advance,

Could be upper, lower or both. Time to rebuild/renew. Similar on my W123. New upper control arm corrected the issue in my case. Had done in a shop. Cost of a complete new upper was cheaper than remove, rebuild and reinstall. About $250 for renewal of both sides.
Lower a little more with new ball joints.
