190E 2.6 Cold Weather Stalling
1991 Mercedes190E 2.6
Ok, this recurant problem start about 3 years ago.
When the weather goes below -10celcius, the engine start good but the idle is rough i mean it play between 1000 and 600 rpm after a while it set up.
When the engine warm up to 40c I drive the car for about 3 miles or if you like better after 2 stop, at the third one when I decelerate the engine shut off like if I turn the key off. Most of the time I just push the trottle pedal down and it will restart.
This morning it was -30 celcius it stop at the same place again but it take about 10 minutes before I can get it run. GRRRRRR...
I get back home driving with the 2 pedal to keep the idle over 1000 rpm.
Where do I start to look for a solution???
I read about a realy behind the batterie for cold start is this the place to start or ???
Any help will be appreciate
Max
Ps. I'll take my old chevy S10 to go back to work he never let me down...:-)))

RE: 190E 2.6 Cold Weather Stalling
sound like a slide air valve may be going thats is where i would start your problem is maintaining a constant idle of 700 rpms. and its not doing that the slide valve is located under the air cleaner just in front of the air flow meter it should have a 2 or 3 pin black connector and 2 rubber hoses going into it
those things go bad all the time they get plugged up from carbon ,fuel ,oil ect.. i would start there
