123 Series 300 TD Blows Cold Air
Hello all - Not a new problem to be heard, but I've got a 1983 300TD and, as most with the push-button temperature controls I've encountered, it blows COLD air when on anything but HOT. It seems to work some of the time, mixing the HOT and COLD air to give me WARM air, but without fail, it will eventually start blowing COLD air. Fixes anyone? I was told a new control would do it, but I'd rather put it out there before going that route, as most I would salvage could have the same problem. Thanks in advance!

Get yourself a rebuilt controller - should solve the problem, given the age.
You may also need a new AC control unit as well - both can be sourced rebuilt (very green that way), and shouldn't set you back too much. Autohaus AZ has 'em. Common failure point, easily fixed.

The both of you are just awesome people. I recently bought an 80's model Benz and for the last two months the heater has been malfunctioning and i couldn't figure out why. Looks like you two hopefully solved my problem.

Thank you, FI. I was beginning to get seriously worried about having to purchase a climate control servo, and not just the climate unit. So this unit would cause the car to heat fine while sitting still but get cold at speeds above 40mph? Question though...is there any way for me to fix the climate unit already in the car? I'd prefer not to pull it out and tinker with it if success rate is low. Thanks tons.
