ForcedInduction's Holset HE221 Turbo
MOD NOTE: Discussion moved to this thread from the linked thread- https://mercedesforum.com/forum/dies...stegated-48071
Hi I'm very keen to find out the flow rates of the HE221W turbo you have listed. Do they all have the same wheels just with different turbine housings?
Any info would be highly appreciated.
Mitch.

Thank you very much for this this info, it is invaluable to me as I've searched high and low for info on this turbo. It's actually going on a petrol turbo engine, and I was told by the guys in Finland they have seen 330bhp, so 32lbs/min sounds about right. How do I know which turbine housing I have? and will this make a difference to peak flow or just spool time? Many Thanks, Mitch.

Hi,
The turbo is going on a Volvo 1.9 16v Turbo petrol engine. I want quick spool up with 300+bhp potential. I was recommended this turbo but also wanted to try it as it's something different to the Garretts everyone fits these days. I will have a look to see which housing I have. Thankyou very much again for the great info.

Hi, my car is in the workshop atm awaiting more modifications but I will get pics of my setup as soon as I can. Will a 6cm2 housing make a big difference over the 5cm housing? I have traced another HE221W with a 6cm housing. I'm trying to weigh up whether its worth importing this turbo and swapping the housings over? Also, what sort of boost are these compressors good for?
When I bought the turbo, i was told that it's a small turbo so will spool up quick, but that they are also efficient at high boost, thus giving me the best of both worlds?
I'm just a little worried about high EGT's due to the small housing.
What difference does the billet wheel make? Are all the characteristics regarding spool and efficiency still identicle to the HX27?
Also, where can I source a downpipe gasket as I didn't use a gasket and it's blowing slightly?
Sorry for all the questions!!
Thanks for more great info BTW.

Also there is a Swedish tuning site that sells both the he221 and the hx27w and states the turbine or comp wheel (can't remember which) as being a slightly different size. I even found an unofficial compressor map for both. I'm sure the map worked out at 36lb/min. One site even states 39lb/min. I'll try and find them later. Mitch.

Also, this Opel made 400bhp using the he221w which I find hard to believe.
