Recently I have been trying to sell my grandparents 1980 300D, unfortunately I have had no luck.

Many have been interested because it is in such great shape mechanically and aesthetically, however it seems to have some significant rust in the undercarriage (mainly contained to the backseat floorboards) that has worried perspective buyers.

One owner, garage kept, and driven daily until last month, has 212,000 miles. My grandparents bought it new in late 1979 and have every service record (over a hundred pages). All Exterior body panels have no rust, every button and feature works as it should, interior has no cracks or fading (again garage kept its entire life). Its an extremely beautiful car, besides the stated rust.

My question is should I keep trying for the right buyer or should I begin to think about parting it out?

I would say max $2000 only due to milage and year.

Try eBay, it's a great car and I think there's a niche market out for early year MB diesels
