What is happening here?
In two fairly recent posts (here and here) both posters noted what they believe to be catastrophic engine damage after running a mix of diesel and veggie oil. We know diesel works fine. We know that SVO can be made to last awhile before catastrophic damage occurs, but what is it about the combination of the two fuels mixed together that causes the damage to occur that much quicker? Also, neither poster got back to us with a detailed post-mortem of their engine. So we are left kind of wondering whether they really did experience catastrophic damage or they are just left with some fix they haven't yet arrived at; although the first poster seems to have a more detailed description of possibilities that he included with his listing of the car in the for sale section.
I'm not trying to spur some inane discussion of the value of diesel vs. SVO or WVO. We know that diesel is the way to go, especially on an engine designed for it. What I want to know is what is it about the combination of the mixed fuels that caused these two cars to crump so quickly?
Ideas? Discussion?
Has anybody mixed their fuel and been successful?
