Default Vacuum pump location on 1999 E300

Wouldn't you know it, another problem with 1999 turbo. Now it's lost vacuum and the heater controls and locks don't work. Before I go nuts looking for the vacuum pump and posible leaks, is there a common problem with the vacuum system on this car?

This sure is a nice car when everything works but lately it seems like a full time job keeping up with failures. Glow plug broken of in the head, mirrors and windows have a mind of their own, no turbo boost, rust forming at the door bottoms. This car isn't the joy to own that the 240D was.
