Hi Folks,

I have a 1984 240D, and there is a pipe hanging off of my intake that goes nowhere. LOL. I picked up this car a couple years back and have slowly put the mechanicals together, but I have a dilemma.

I have attached two photos showing a pipe from a hole in the bottom of the intake that is capped off. I have no idea where it supposed to go or even if it is necessary.

Can someone have a look and tell me what this is supposed to be or if i can just cap off the hole in the intake and get rid of the dangling pipe?

 

Thanks ForcedInduction. It must have been a car brought over later. W123s were made up to 85, but that was the last year. 240Ds? I dunno. There just aren't many I've seen here. Too, I have had to order some miscellaneous parts from Europe that were different than other 240Ds. Right no, I'm also looking for a pan gasket for the tranny because the ones for the older 240s are a different shape. I'll get the number off the tranny for that.

With that EGR valve pipe, I can just cap up that hole in the intake. I just need to make sure it or nothing else gets sucked into the engine.
