turbo upgrade
Does anyone know of or have purchased an aftermarket bolt-on turbo kit for a '79 W123 300D? Would you recommend this upgrade for a naturally aspirated 300D? I heard that MB turbo diesels are far more fuel efficient than their naturally aspirated cousins. Would an aftermarket kit yeild the same results?
Also, does anybody know where I can puchase a catalog for w123 parts? I need to find out the part number of the particular parts I am looking for so I can qoute it when I shop for them.
Many Thanks!

RE: turbo upgrade
Turbo and non-turbo engines are not alike!
Converting such is hard and if you succeed fruitless!
An OM617 diesel engine is easily available..lots of rotted out 123's I gave one away for free this past summer! There are 2 in the Boston area right now for $150 each!

I see... Thanks Benzbob for the valuable insight.
As much as those engines in boston interest me, I am form the far east. Shipping cost + taxes would prove to be very inhibitive on my end. There aren't that many TDs in my country and those who own them take very good care of them and has no intention of selling.
How about a 'port and polish'? Would it make much of a difference vs. a stock cylinder head? I just need a little bit more torque in this car so it can haul itself up the steep hills of my hometown with ease and climb up parking buildings without fear of hitting the car behind me.
