Default Turbo a N/A engine

Can it be done? Im looking at a 77 300D for $350 american and obviously its a N/A engine. I want a turbo... plain and simple. Were the N/A engines higher compression to make up for the lack of forced induction or could i put a turbo on it and be done? I dont mind doing the work it takes, I just want a yes or no and how.
Thanks y'all!

In other words, if you want a turbo engine, buy a turbo car.
Can a Mercedes turbodiesel engnie be put in a non-turbo diesel Mercedes; such as replacing a bad non-turbo engine with a good turbodiesel engine?
