i am tracking down a 300SD with +300K on it...the owner has only had the car for about a year...and doesnt know if the trans in it is original rebuilt or otherwise...he said it has just been flushed and is shifting smoothly...my question is...how long do these transmissions usualy go? 100K? 200K?

should i just keep my eye out for one that has less miles on it with more info on service history? im thinkin i should but im still a bit curiuos...

I haven't had any problems out of mine luckily. I personally havent put any more than 23k on a benz trans while the car was in my possession but i have heard stories that in the older diesels that they go for along time as lond as taken care of.
