timing chain, glows, valves what else?
About a month ago I bought an 83 300SD. No idea as to the history of it. It's got about 120k on the non-working odo.
I have a new timing chain on order and will be doing that along with adjusting the valves, replacing the glow plugs, air filter, oil filter, new oil, and diesel purge with new filters.
What else would be recommended to try to put this car back on track as a properly maintained MB?

look over at dieselgiant.com amazing free info of stuff. they reccomend changing the dif oil, and show you how to do it. and purging the injectors and again show you how to do it. really amazing site.

Changing the mentioned parts will get the engine started back on track along with the rear end, but what about the coolant/radiator flush and change? Then if its an automatic transmission what about its filter and fluid? That goes for a standard transmission and clutch check/adjust. Then of course there are brakes lines to inspect, stuck brake calipers (rears) and a fluid flush too. Changing the power steering filter/fluid? Belts and check alternator bearings for noise with the belts off?
