strange sound at rear axle

Hi

I was thinking could it be the universal bearing that have to be replaced.

Did you replace the rear axle bearings? I had to replace both of mine as the wheels were noticably "loose" when the car was jacked up and the tires were being replaced. $250-$500/bearing pack.

I'm not familliar with that model, does it have independant rear suspension? If it does, I haven't heard anyone mention the cv joints at the wheel end of the axel. I've seen them (on front wheel drivevehicles) do exactly as described. Might make you pull all of your hair out trying to find it. I would be strongly suspecting that, even if everyone tells you they are good, sometimes you can't tell 'till the wear gets bad enough to find a problem, the good side of that is there isn't any real danger 'till then either, just annoying noises.
