Speakers?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can someone please tell me where i would be able to pick up some half-way decent speakers for my 1982 300SD. I know i could probably pick some up from the mechanics, but i fear that it would cost to much!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not looking for a huge bass and giant amps, i just want something better then stock!!!!

RE: Speakers?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 1984 SD and just installed two pair of Boston Acoutics S75 from Crutchfield. They require a bit of modification. With a Dremel and 4 fiber reinforced cut off discs( 1 per speaker) you can trim most of the rectangular frame to match the oval factory speaker with the two mounting tabs. This is considered major modification since you are griinding away most of the rectangular frame right to the edge of the rubber surround. I flipped over factory speaker and marked what I needed to keep and cut off the rest of the frame. I used Bassblockers to keep the sound clean with the original radio or better with more power from a newer radio. I would recommend them from experience. The dash are really tight. I had to press them into place and use one screw to hold it. The grills went back over them with no tweeter clerance issues. If you are interested call em at Crutchfield at 1-800-388-2911 ext 4024 and I can help you. Thanks.
