Sluggish 300SD
Hi to all! This is my first post to this forum.
After using an 83’ 240D for almost ten years I’ve got an 84’ 300SD. The car has an inspection sticker which expired in 1998. It make me to believe that sins it was not driven a lot. Most likely the car was poorly maintained but garaged.
Now is the problem: the car is very sluggish in acceleration. I replaced oil, changed filters, readjusted accelerator linkage – very slight improvement, if any.
I’m resisting believing that it is normal for such a heavy car. I think that something wrong with adjustments of the car and fully open to any suggestions!

RE: Sluggish 300SD
How bad is it??? Is the turbo spinning?
My 300SD is very slow from a standstill (especially w/ the AC on), but then gets going pretty good. However it's very sluggish on a cold start below about 40 degrees. I think it's because the oil is thick and not allowing my old, tired out turbo to spool up.
My thought was, if your car was sitting for a long time, maybe the turbo has frozen.....

Thanks to all.
All filters are new. Turbo spins ok.
I'm still going to check and adjust timing of fuel if needed.
By the way I never was able to force the "drop per second". I'm using method known for years:
Connect a glass tube to first cylinder and check the level.
It worked for me.

Compere your 240D with your 300SD... (Mine is a lot better). It shold not be so dumb... Something is wrong with the 300SD. I don't know what and I'm going to figure it out.
With your help!

Is anybody taken appart the turbo and has suggestion of how make it easyest way?
