my goodness! that transmission is still unknown to me.

i got the datacard, but didn't mention the type.

can you read it out directly from the transmission?

 

i will get it tonight ( i work nights) and will let you know. i am looking for vacuum pressure and fluid pressure ammounts and will record them. unfortunately i cannot get anywhere near the car now. in order to find the right filter the dealer had to call mercedes directly somewhere so i am not surprised its difficult to locate info. thanks and i will be in touch. andrew f

no vacume at the trans dashpot hence none at the modulator so....... checked vacuum switches on the valve cover and one has a broken nipple so...... more later. LATER!

 

first i want to thank sleepwalker for his assistance. thanks sleepwalker! the little vacuum valves on top of the valve cover were the culprit. one had a broken nipple and replacements arrive in the mail today. i replaced the broken one and checked for vacuum and had 1.5 bars or something like that. went for a ride and the problem was gone. if anyone reads the thread "shifts at max and NOT before" the whole story is revealed with the ending here. now to adjust the valves and use diesel purge........
