Couldn't think of a better place to ask than here.

I'm an avid motorcyclist and part time motorcycle mechanic, I do many of my own engine repairs on my current Mazda car and know a thing or two about engine theory. But, I'm a total beginner in the world of diesels.

Of course, I'm attracted to the style and status of a Mercedes Diesel like everyone else is.

This popped up on my craigslist, I spoke to the guy today and test drove the car.

It's a 1982 240D body that had an engine blow on it, so the previous owner installed a 300TD engine in it. The body itself has about 200,000 miles on it, not rusted out underneath, interior in good condition, basic worn leather and dash cracks. All electronics work (AC/heat) except for the cruise control. The engine that was put into it supposedly had about 100,000 miles on it, so currently he said it should be around 110-115,000. He's used it to travel across the U.S. to visit family.

Good tires, suspension seems fine, paints good etc.

Basically, are there any things I should be aware of, look for, expect with this purchase?
