no oil pressure

no oil pressure
I just did an engine swap. I transferred everything off of a 3.5L and put it on a 3.0L. Everything fit perfect, it started right up and purrs like a kitten. But I have no oil pressure. Because I completely drained EVERYTHING when I removed the engine do I need to prime the oil similar to fuel? Any thoughts?

RE: no oil pressure
I will recheck the wires and track down the oil sender. Like I said it was purring. Obviously I didn't run it long. Maybe a minute when I realized there was no oil pressure and it was telling the truth with the clacking valves. I immediately shut it down. It literally was not pumping any oil.

I ask the question again. Has anyone heard of having to prime the oil pump? If so how do I got about doing this?
I put in the required amount of oil via the filler cap. But since the entire oil cooler and lines were drained I have now put another 3.785L via the oil filter container. I am still not getting any oil circulating.

Priming an oil pump is essentially a standard procedure when rebuilding any engine. If the engine is drained, it's also a good way to make sure there aren't any air bubbles that would cause the pump to not work properly.

Sorry, but I don't. On small block Chryslers there is a long rod that goes down to the pump that you turn with a power drill. I've never rebuilt a Benz engine so I don't have the foggiest.
