Default New guy here

Stumbled across this forum in my search for information about the diesels in these beautiful cars, I have been reading through a lot of it on here and its helped a great deal in my search for the right car. I started my search just knowing that I wanted a diesel for the reliability and MPGs, now I have narrowed my search to an 83 and an 87 300d. I am going to look at the 83 300d this weekend, and just wanted to touch base here with some of you and make sure there isnt anything that I am missing and things that I should be aware of before I make a 6 hour trip to look at this car. The car is in superb shape inside and out with 190k on the engine. Any insight would be greatly appreciated on both of these cars.

Good to know, I will definitely keep an eye out. Both cars look very solid in the pics but we all know its not hard to make things look better in pics.

So the floors and trunk are solid, no moisture or rust that I was able to find. There is some surface rust starting in some areas, an inch long spot under the rear door trim piece, a quarter dice spot in the center of the door and about a 4in section around the rear wheel well. Is this something that I should be weary of? The car is otherwise immaculate.
