Default New to forum - replace glow plugs in 1983 300D

First time in this forum... first time posting... I have a 1983 300D and it seems like we need to replace the glow plugs - car started having issues turning over - finally stopped turning over completely yesterday... there is no glow plug indicator light which seems to indicate a glow plug issue??? Is this a DIY project? My husband seems to have the tools to proceed and is quite handy - can anyone provide clear instructions on how to proceed? Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Yes - it feels like it wants to start, but ultimately goes nowhere - the radio and all other lights work. Tried jump-starting as well in case it was a battery issue. That also didn't work. Thoughts?

This pictorial (from Diesel Gaint.com) on repairing glow plugs might help.

Take a really good look at that Fuse on the Glow Plug Relay. My Glow Plugs did not work and I looked at the Fuse on the Glow Plug relan in poor light and saw no problem. In better Light I saw that my Fuse had cracked.

Thanks so much for the helpful advice and clear links - in following the instructions to test the glow plugs and other related parts we discovered the silver bridge fuse strip was broken.. I suspect that may be the issue... thanks again!

Closing the loop - we replaced the strip fuse... car started up on the first try! Thanks again so much - you saved us LOADS of money (considering the part was $2.00)...
