Default Mb228.1??

Monday I’ll be picking up a 300D 2.5 with 133k miles. One of the first things I’ll do is an oil change. I’m a little confused on what spec to follow. Is it MB228.1 and 228.3?

This car has been well maintained so I don’t think I need to do a couple short clean out OCI’s before I go with a normal OCI.

I am used to using M1 in my gassers so I’ll probably go with either synthetic Delvac or M1 Turbo Diesel.

Is there any advantage though of using a 15W-40 dino over a lighter 5W-40 synthetic? I live in North Carolina (mild winters and hot summers).

I am used to 10k mile OCI’s in my gassers with M1 synthetic, can I do that in a diesel or would this be a no-no?

Thanks for the help!

I use SHELL Rotella 5w-40 SYN in all my Diesel (blue gallon in Wally for like $19.99) the best bang for the money. change every 5000 miles that is what I do in my 1993 2.5 Benz.

OMG stop over reacting I do not care what they say on web site. Will it void a warranty on a 1993?? I care what has been used for billion miles around the world by billion people and has been proven to work. If a truck pulling 40000 LB goes good with ROTELLA why would not a MB with 5 cylinder have problems carying 5 adults at the most. I have used Rotellla in my VW diesel always and no problems also I used it my 1993 Mb diesel also. Two choiced are MOBIL DELVAC or ROTELLA and they are both proven to work.
