Default Line/hose identifcation

This is an '82 300SD. This line has just been sitting toward the rear of the engine bay, I have no idea what it goes too. The round connector at the end has a small hole in the hose, I traced it to be part of the vacuum system.

Can anyone with a few minutes of time trace to where this thing goes?

Thanks.

Could this be your Banjo hose that connects on the back end of the exhaust manifold?

Have a look at this link and keep me posted.

Benzguy,

Thanks alot! That is exactly what it goes too. I am also missing that bolt. The link on the website went to a page on the turbocharger, I didn't see any parts that looked liked the bolt I needed...do you have any part numbers or places where I can order this bolt? Will I have to go to the Mercedes dealer for this?

Yes. Get it from your dealer or a junk yard. You'll be amazed how different your car runs once you connect it. Also, don't forget the two aluminum crush washers.

I just ordered with from the dealer along with the washer kit for it. Even though the bolt was $30, I am not planning on going to a junk yard anytime soon, so to go just for the bolt wasn't in my best interest.

I appreciate the help on this...there was no way I would ever have found out what it was on my own. The Haynes manual doesn't touch the vacuum system at all.

Jonathan,

Pitch the Haynes manual and buy the service manual on DVD from the MB Classic Center. It costs less and has much more info and car specific pictures.

Don't get a heart attack when they tell you the price of the bolt and washers you'll need.
There are two different sizes when it comes to the bolt length, you need the longer one about 2 1/2 inches long.
