My '81 240d won't start. It lost power and died several times but made it home. I replaced both filters and bled the system because the primary filter had crud in it. I thought that was the problem but now it won't start. I'm wondering if the dirty filter wasn't the real problem. Fuel is getting as far as the injector pump. If I disconnect one of the hard lines from the pump to an injector and crank the engine over there is a weak drip of fuel from the line. How strong should the pressure from the IP be? How can I test the IP/ Thanks for your advice.

 

The tank strainer is probably plugged.
