Idle Issue & Oil Leak - 240D
This one has me scratching my rapidly graying head.
I've got a '79 240D stick with about 180K on the clock. I've done just about everything to it (numerous purges, filters, valve adjustment, new injectors, etc.), but am having idle issues, as in, idling too high.
I've backed out the stop on the pump, adjusted the linkage (all cleaned and lubed - it's not hanging up), and pretty much defeated the manual idle control. When cold, the idle is fine, when warm, I am guessing 1100 - 1200 rpm, at random, sometimes even a little higher. Something not quite right.
The car starts and runs just fine. What's more, I recently noticed an oil leak at the back of the injection pump. It's oil, and definitely has its origins right at the back of the pump (cleaned and reinspected to determine this).
Anyone else run into this sort of thing? Is the pump on it's way out? Any and all thoughts and guidance welcome.
Thanks (in advance)!
