Default help: 240D glowplug issue (movie)

mini-movie depicting glowplug issue:
http://www.usta-va.com/rob/MB/DSCN0537.MOV (2.4mb)

essentially, when i go to start my 240D i turn the key forward and the glow plug light does not illuminate.

however, if i turn the key back and forth a number of times eventually it will illuminate (in the mini-movie the glow plug light came on after turning the key back and forth six times).

this issue arose yesterday, and a potentially related issue that preceeded this began 3 or 4 days ago: the buzzer that warns you that the key is still in when you open the door - now comes on when the driver door is opened even when there is no key in the ignition...

what do you think is the cause? are the issues related?

TIA and cheers!

My 1977 240D used to do this. When it finally came time to sell it I figured it would be a good thing to fix (or at least try to fix) so I took out the dash pod to replace the glowplug indicator lamp. Much to my surprise, the indicator lamp was still good. After additional troubleshooting I discovered that 2 out of 4 glowplugs were bad. I ordered a new Bosch glowplug and relay kit, installed it, replaced my dashpod and everything returned to normal.
