Default Heater/AC issue - 84 300TDT

Just got the A/C charged, and fired it up. I have air from the side vents, but rather than the middle vents, the air is pushing up through the defrost vents. I had the switch panel off above the A/C controls a few weeks back. Could this be a vacuum line issue? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Yes, it is most likely a vacuum issue. Either a line has come off, or a vacuum modulator has failed.

I am told the problem might be related to a vacuum pod behind the dash. Does this require removal of the entire dash, or just the instrument cluster?

Neither. Remove the glove box and the two center vents.

Solved. Vacuum line behind the A/C controls had been pulled loose. Car now stops correctly and the vacuum locks work properly as well.

Vacuum sucks.
