RE: Gas Mileage Mercedes Diesel Models
in my 76 300D i get 20-23 mpg, new fuel filters are comming next week, i'll report back
you guys and your "silly" electronics i like the feel of an actual kickdown switch and having to let off for the trans to shift proppery without slushing. 460K and still going strong. 0-60 in 23 seconds is a bit excessive tho
no catalytic converter
no 02 sensor
manual altitude adjustment on the IP

RE: Gas Mileage Mercedes Diesel Models
My wife and I just purchased a 1974 240d. I am absolutely amazed at the vehicle. It has 209k miles and still runs like a champ. We are actually still on the first tank of diesel so I can't tell you what kind of milage but so far it seems pretty good. Our car does have the block heater you are referring to but we have yet to plug it in. I live in Kansas City so it does not get brutally cold but we did have a week were temps were in the single digits and the car started fine.
I certianly agree with the comment about being slow. While the car runs great it is very slow which is not a bad thing for my wife. She uses the car to put around town in for her business.
This is the first diesel and first mercedes I have owned and I am extremely thrilled with the car so far.
